Women of Influence

You are a woman of influence.

Influence is defined as “the capacity to have an effect on the character, development or behavior of someone or something.”

No matter what you do during the day, how much money you make (or spend), how much time you spend in or outside your home – you are using your influence to lead those around you. Your attitude, character, ideas and opinions rub off on those in your circle. If you aren’t sure you agree, just look at your child. Do you see yourself in her? If you don’t yet, keep watching. Because you will.

As moms, we don’t always have control over our days, but we do have control over the attitude that permeates the days. We get to pick boldness or timidity, compassion or indifference, love or apathy.

What would happen if we decided to influence lives around us on purpose? Not because we have to and not just because it happens on its own, but because we want to bring out the best in those around us?

Your ideas and experiences make up your unique story. Sharing our own story may feel risky and a little time-consuming, but if you are willing to share what you’ve learned and be honest about what you still need to learn, you can make a profound difference in the lives of other people.

Ask yourself:

  • Who do I influence? Your list might include all the little ones that live in your house, or friends in your cul-de-sac, people in your community, at your child’s school, or at your workplace.
  • How do I lead? What’s your style and your leadership attitude?
  • How would I like to lead them better?

You are a woman of influence. How will you use your influence today? How can you expand your influence tomorrow?
