There’s something about applying watercolor paint to paper that soothes the soul.

 Materials

  • Watercolor paint
  • Watercolor brushes – size 8 round or size 14 flat
  • Acrylic paint brush – with short round bristles
  • Watercolor paper – (260 or 300 gsm) or thick cardstock (100 lb), sized 5.5” x 8.5”
  • Small glass of water
  • White acrylic paint
  • Knife

directions

  1. Fold watercolor paper in half and smooth the crease using the blunt side of a knife.

  1. Dab watercolor brush in water. Using a good amount of the color, brush a few strokes down the card.
  2. Clean the brush in water and choose another hue of paint. Brush several more strokes, making contact with the first color.
  3. Repeat step 3.

  1. Allow paint to dry, about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Choose a meaningful word like peace, hope, grateful or love. Sketch the word in pencil first if preferred, then paint using acrylic brush and white paint.
